The C-rate is a parameter indicating a battery’s charge and discharge rate.
This value is given by the ratio of the charging or discharging current (measured in amperes) to the capacity of the battery (measured in ampere-hours).
For example, if a battery has a rated capacity of 10 Ah and is charged at 5 A, its C-rate will be 0.5 C.
To fully charge a battery to a C-rate of 0.5C will take two hours.
A battery with a nominal capacity of 10 Ah discharging at a C-rate of 5C means the discharge current is 50 A. Generally, two C-rates are given for each battery: the charge C-rate and the discharge C-rate.
